Hematotoxicity Predictions Not Always Accurate

Current methods of prediction of bone marrow radiation absorbed dose (RAD) in non-Hodgkin's B cell lymphoma (NHL) patients undergoing radioimmunotherapy (RAIT) may not correlate with actual marrow radiation toxicity, suggest researchers from the United States.

W.D. Erwin and colleagues from Chicago, Illinois, conducted a study to investigate whether marrow RAD, estimated using three different indirect methods, could predict actual marrow radiation toxicity. The study was conducted in NHL patients undergoing RAIT with a Y-90 labeled anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody (MAb).
