Enhanced Adenovirus Shows Increased Oncolysis in vivo

A conditionally replicative adenovirus (CRAD) with enhanced infectivity was better able to induce tumor regression in mice with ovarian cancer than non-replicative viruses, according to a recent report.

"Virus-mediated therapy of ovarian cancer requires viruses capable of efficient tumor cell infection, lateral propagation, and oncolysis without affecting normal tissues," stated Mack N. Barnes and colleagues from the University of Alabama. "To this end, we aimed to construct a CRAD with an infectivity-enhancing RGD motif in the fiber."
