Attenuated Virus G207 is Safe in Mice

Mouse studies show that the attenuated herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) mutant, G207, is safe at doses that provide effective therapy, according to researchers at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

This study, conducted by P. Sundaresan and others at the University, was published recently in the Journal of Virology ("Attenuated, replication-competent herpes simplex virus type 1 mutant G207: Safety evaluation in mice," J Virol, 2000;74(8):3832-3841).
