Recombinant Virus Containing E2 Protein Regulates Oncogenic Proteins

Preliminary results of an animal study have shown that a recombinant vaccinia virus containing papilloma E2 protein suppresses tumors in nude mice.

The results of this study were published in the journal Cancer.

Earlier studies have indicated that human papillomavirus (HPV) is a causative agent of cervical cancer.

"The papilloma E2 protein is able to regulate negatively the expression of E6 and E7 papilloma oncoproteins," said V.V. Graham and colleagues in Mexico City who conducted the study.
