Chemotherapy/Radiotherapy Combination Effective for Short-Term Recurrent Tumor Control

Retreatment of previously irradiated head and neck carcinomas with a combination of chemotherapy and an additional course of radiotherapy appears to be an effective method for short-term tumor control.

U. Schaefer and colleagues at the University of Munster in Germany conducted a prospective study on the effectiveness of the regimen for recurrent head and neck cancer ("Recurrent head and neck cancer: Retreatment of previously irradiated areas with combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy - Results of a prospective study," Radiology, 2000;216(2):371-376).
