Protectin (CD59) Regulates Susceptibility to Homologous Complement

Overexpression of protectin (CD59), a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored cell membrane glycoprotein that acts as a terminal regulator of complement (C) cascade, down-modulates the susceptibility of melanoma cells to homologous C, and possibly affects the therapeutic value of C-activating monoclonal antibody treatment.
