New Discovery Has Implications for Cancer, Other Diseases

Cancer, cholesterol metabolism, and developmental disorders may soon be better understood because of surprising new information revealed in a study by researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York.

The study was published in the December 21, 2000, issue of the journal Science. In an article commenting on this research also published in the same issue of the journal, Nobel Laureate Joseph Goldstein commented, "It's the beginning of a whole new way of looking at the trafficking of cholesterol in the cell."
