Non-Specific Route Lines Path to Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Hepatitis B and C

A Swedish research study reports that progression to hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with chronic hepatitis B or chronic hepatitis C occurs in a fairly non-specific fashion.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is associated with risk factors such as hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. L. Tornillo et al. of the University of Basel Hospital examined genetic deletions and additions in hepatocellular carcinoma samples obtained from patients with confirmed HBV or HCV infections.
