Y. Wang and colleagues created antisense uPAR-expressing vectors encompassing either the 3' or 5' ends of uPAR mRNA. Vectors were transfected into HCT116, which is a colon cancer cell line with a high metastatic potential. After confirming transfection with DNA hybridization, clones were evaluated for receptor bound endogenous uPA activities and for extracellular matrix degradation.
