Continuous Infusion of Paclitaxel Well Tolerated With Radiation

by N.R. Saltmarsh, staff medical writer - Patients with locally advanced squamous cell cancer of the head and neck (SCCHN) are able to tolerate concurrent radiation therapy and paclitaxel infusion, according to a U.S. National Cancer Institute Phase I trial.

D.I. Rosenthal and colleagues enrolled 27 patients with untreated stage IVA/B SCCHN to receive a seven-week continuous infusion of paclitaxel along with 70 Gy of radiation therapy for seven weeks.
