Two New Drugs Appear To Help Slow Metastatic Disease In Bone

Two novel drugs designed to block the spread of metastatic prostate cancer in bone appear to significantly slow clinical progression of the cancer in men.

Approximately 30% of men with prostate cancer eventually develop bone metastases. Bone metastases can cause debilitating pain and are the major cause of death in men with prostate cancer.

Researchers reported on the chemotherapies at the 37th annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, held May 12-14, 2001, in San Francisco, California.
