Mast Cell Enzyme Joins Other Growth Factors In Cancer Role

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - Scientists believe mast cell tryptase might be as important to uterine cervix carcinoma progression as two more commonly known growth factors.

"Recently, mast cell tryptase has been identified as another potent proangiogenic factor in tumors, along with fibroblast and vascular endothelial growth factors," said L. Benitez-Bribiesca and coworkers, National Medical Center S-XXI, Mexico.
