Implant Sciences Awarded Over $1,000,000 In Government Contracts

Implant Sciences Corp. (IMX), which manufactures I-Plant Iodine-125 brachytherapy seeds for the treatment of prostate cancer has been awarded four government contracts and grants totaling approximately $1,050,000 from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Defense (DOD).

The NIH grants involve the treatment of spinal cancer and ocular melanoma (eye cancer) using the company's proprietary radioactive implant technology. The DOD contract is for the development of miniature toxic gas sensors to be worn by firefighters to sense whether the air in a specific area is safe to breathe.
