International Team Establishes Receptor Role In Female Cancer Prognosis

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - Members of the multinational Tumor and Angiogenesis Research Group say a fully functioning angiogenic pathway is typically present in endometrial carcinoma progression.

That pathway must include cellular expression of the mitogen vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) as well as the presence of a key receptor, flk-1(KDR), according to Alexandra Giatromanolaki and colleagues, Democritus University of Thrace, Alexandroupolis, Greece.
