Analyses of the effects of x-rays on chicken embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM), a standard model for angiogenesis, have revealed that extracellular production of several factors associated with tumor angiogenesis are often upregulated once the procedure is performed. A report of the new finding was issued in the December 2001 edition of the International Journal of Cancer.
