Doppler Images Of Arteries Provide Useful Assessment For Breast Status

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - A new study of women with breast cancer has revealed ultrasound images of arteries leading to the breast may provide useful diagnostic information.

After comparing the Doppler indices of several women with and without breast cancer, doctors at the University of Vienna in Austria have proclaimed ultrasound can give useful assessments of breast status with a specificity of more than 90%. A report of their study was issued in the journal Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
