Health economic study highlights new approach to colorectal cancer screening

A new screening test for colorectal cancer could reduce the cost of screening programs for the disease, according to a new health economic study.

ColorectAlert, developed by IMI International Medical Innovations, Inc., detects a cancer-associated sugar in a mucus sample. The health economic study comparing ColorectAlert with the current standard test - fecal occult blood test (FOBT) - was presented at the Canadian Association for Population Therapeutics meeting in Toronto and the abstract is published in the current issue of the Canadian Journal of Clinical Pharmacology.
