Myeloid suppressor cells prevent tumor immunotherapy efficacy

by Maria G. Essig, MS, ELS, senior medical writer - Myeloid suppressor cells (MSC) appear to inhibit the T-cell response normally mounted against tumor cells, allowing and even promoting tumor growth, according to a report in the journal Cancer Immunology, Immunotherapy.

Robert M. Prins and his associates at Virginia Commonwealth University inoculated rats with T9 glioma cells (5x10⁴) intracranially (i.c.) and allowed the tumors to grow for 5 days.
