Endostatin curbs follicular thyroid carcinoma in animal models

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - Scientists have learned that endostatin can curve the growth of human follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) in animal models.

Endostatin is a natural inhibitor of angiogenesis, or neovascularization. Medical investigators from China, in conjunction with colleagues at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania, have determined recombinant or retroviral-mediated delivery of endostatin limits the proliferation of thyroid cancers implanted into nude mice.

Initially, Caisheng Ye and colleagues treated FTC-implanted mice with recombinant protein.
