Scientists think NK4 might afford similar protection against pancreatic cancer metastasis in human patients.
"NK4, composed of the N-terminal hairpin and subsequent four-kringle domains of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), acts not only as a competitive antagonist for HGF but also as a potent angiogenesis inhibitor," explained Michiyo Saimura and the other members of a research team at Kyushu University Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Fukuoka, Japan.
