Gene therapy partially prevents cisplatin-induced condition

Neurotrophin-3 may help prevent neuropathy frequently associated with cisplatin therapy. Now scientists have found they can use gene therapy - with or without viral vectors - to induce continuous delivery of neurotrophin-3.

"Sensory neuropathies are a frequent and dose-limiting complication resulting from treatment with cisplatin," stated P.F. Pradat and colleagues, Hopital La Pitie Salpetriere, Paris, France.
