Sulfonamide derivative counters angiogenesis with integrin blockade

by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer - A new sulfonamide derivative, E7820, can inhibit neovascular signaling by blocking endothelial adhesion molecules, scientists at Tsukuba Research Laboratories of the Eisai Company, Ltd. have determined.

"In the process of angiogenesis, endothelial adhesion molecules play a significant role in vascular morphogenesis, in coordination with angiogenic factor signaling," said Yasuhiro Funahashi and colleagues in Cancer Research.
