Investigators have identified a direct link between VEGF165 and lymphatic drainage around tumors, suggesting a role for the growth factor's involvement in cancer cell dissemination to nearby lymph nodes.
Hagit Dafni and colleagues at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, used imaging studies to evaluate VEGF-induced hyperpermeability and the possibility of tumor cell conveyance to sentinel lymph nodes.
