Researchers discovering new clues to treating cancer

In the battle against cancer, researchers are studying how cancerous cells provide clues known as biomarkers that can help doctors diagnose and treat their patients more effectively.

Mary Ann (MD, PhD) and Donald (PhD) Sens, a husband-and-wife research team at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, say that when some types of cancer cells overproduce a specific protein, the information can be used to determine the cancer's stage of development and how aggressively to treat it.
