Interleukin-1 is a prerequisite for tumor invasion and angiogenesis. "Here, we describe that microenvironmental interleukin (IL)-1beta and, to a lesser extent, IL-1alpha are required for in vivo angiogenesis and invasiveness of different tumor cells," scientists writing in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA report.
