Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-3 limits angiogenesis and neuroblastoma
April 22nd, 2003
by Sonia Nichols, senior medical writer-Genes for an inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase can control angiogenesis and tumor growth. Retrovirally delivered tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase (TIMP)-3 gene therapy limits angiogenesis and the growth of small solid tumors such as neuroblastoma, according to William W. Spurbeck and colleagues at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis Tennessee. However, the investigators caution that targeted tumors must be receptive to retroviral delivery.
