Positive data released on Neugene antisense technology

AVI BioPharma, Inc., (AVII, AVIIW, AVIIZ) announced that AVI scientists Gayathri R. Devi, PhD, and Adams Amantana, PhD, presented research data describing the successful inhibition of XIAP, one of a family of genes known to inhibit apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in cancer cells using an antisense strategy.

Their presentation was at the 85th Annual Meeting of the Endocrine Society at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
