Cancer patients find help in ancient martial art

The ancient Chinese martial art of tai chi is helping patients battle the stress and fatigue of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Patients in the unique Medical Tai Chi program have experienced "profound medical benefits" from the physical movements, breathing forms and meditation required by tai chi, said Patrick Massey, MD, PhD, medical director, Complementary and Alternative Medicine, for the Alexian Brothers Hospital Network, which operates four hospitals in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
