Performance reviews of gynecologic cytology screening labs suffer diverse forces

"Like any other laboratory test, quality is important in gynecologic cytology. The results of any measure of performance can have tremendous professional and financial impact on a laboratory and the personnel within it. Certainly, no one wants their laboratory performance to be measured in the bottom 50% of laboratories, although half of all laboratories must, by necessity, fall within this range," scientists writing in the journal Clinics in Laboratory Medicine report.
