PABA with radiation may reduce melanoma tumor growth

Scientists reported studies demonstrating that the cell-killing effects of either radiation or standard chemotherapy drugs were enhanced when tumor cells such as melanoma were grown in dishes containing PABA, an ingredient in some sunscreens.

The studies were presented at the International Conference on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics organized by the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), National Cancer Institute (NCI) and European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) in Boston, Massachusetts.
