Fur flies over new murine pancreatic cancer models

New murine models allow researchers to evaluate strategies for early detection, chemoprevention, and treatments for pancreatic cancer.

According to a study from the United States, "Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most lethal of all human malignancies."

"Until recently, preclinical studies have been hampered by the absence of mouse models faithfully recapitulating critical elements of the human disease. However, recent months have witnessed a flurry of activity with respect to prospective mouse models," wrote S.D. Leach and colleagues, Johns Hopkins, University, Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center.
