MEP calls for European strategy in the fight against breast cancer

The conditions necessary to lead to a 25% reduction in breast cancer mortality must be in place across Europe by 2008, a member of the European Parliament (MEP) said at the opening of the 4th European Breast Cancer Conference, March 16, 2004. Karin Jons, the European Parliament's standing rapporteur for breast cancer, said that all European countries should introduce mammography screening for women aged 50-69 in accordance with the European Union (EU) guidelines.
