Pre-operative chemotherapy boosts breast conservation by up to 30%

The increasing use of pre-operative chemotherapy means that 15% to 30% more breast cancer patients may now be suitable for breast conservation surgery than 10 years ago, according to a cancer specialist. It also allows doctors to know very quickly which drugs individual patients are failing to respond to and switch treatments much faster than before.
