Thymidylate synthase mRNA predicts shorter survival in breast cancer

The expression of thymidylate synthase mRNA is associated with shorter survival in patients with breast cancer. "Thymidine phosphorylase (TP), thymidylate synthase (TS) and dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD) have been indicated as possible predictive markers for epithelial malignancies. All these three enzymes are actively involved in 5-FU metabolism.
