Thrombospondin-1 is a negative regulator of estrogen stimulation

According to a study from the United States, "the natural hormone 17beta-estradiol (17beta-E2) is known to induce tumor angiogenesis in various target organs by activating positive regulators of angiogenesis. In this study, we show for the first time that in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), 17beta-E2 transiently downregulates the expression and secretion of a potent negative regulator of angiogenesis, thrombospondin-1 (TSP-1).
