Screening among South Asian women in U.K. city has increased, study finds

Recent data show more South Asian women in Manchester, England, are presenting for cervical cancer screening.

"Previous research indicates low screening uptake among South Asian women. We aimed to generate contemporary evidence of uptake by ethnicity using the screening records of eligible women resident in Manchester (n=72,613)," said R. Webb and colleagues, University of Manchester.

"Uptake among South Asians was lower than among other women, a difference explained by area- and practice-level confounding," the researchers said.
