Previously, PAI-2 "as a potential eosinophil protein was inferred" from a "gene microarray study of mouse eosinophilopoiesis" conducted by researchers in the United States.
In their subsequent study, J.M. Swartz and coauthors at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases identified "47 kDa intracellular and approximately 60 kDa secretory forms of PAI-2 in purified human eosinophil extracts."
