"Telomerase is expressed in many human cancers and cell lines and is thought to contribute to their immortality," pathologists in Ireland explained. "To date, little is known about the expression of telomerase in nonepithelial tumors."
To rectify this, M. Sabah and colleagues at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland conducted a study "to evaluate the expression" of hTERT "in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs)."
