Toxicity and pharmacokinetics of NK911 elucidated

The toxicity and pharmacokinetic profile of the promising anti-cancer agent NK911 have been determined in a phase I clinical trial.

"NK911 is a novel supramolecular nanocarrier designed for the enhanced delivery of doxorubicin (DXR) and is one of the successful polymer micelle systems to exhibit an efficient accumulation in solid tumors in mice," oncologists in Japan explained.

Y. Matsumura and colleagues at the National Cancer Center in Chiba conducted a study "to define the maximum-tolerated dose (MTD) and dose-limiting toxicities (DLTs) of NK911 and to evaluate its pharmacokinetic profile in man."
