IHC and Huntsman Cancer Institute team up to fight cancer

Two medical institutions that have been fierce competitors are forming a new alliance to fight cancer.

The agreement announced January 18, 2005, calls for Huntsman Cancer Clinics opening in all major Intermount Healthcare hospitals by the end of the year. The first will be at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City.

In exchange, IHC will give the institute $25 million for research, access to its insurance plan and research data.

Patients insured by IHC Health Plans will now be covered if treated at the institute.
