Research in oncology provides new insights

Reports from the United States and Israel highlight recent research on oncology.

Study 1: Progression-elevated gene-3 promoter selects cancer cells for gene delivery.

"One impediment to effective cancer-specific gene therapy is the rarity of regulatory sequences targeting gene expression selectively in tumor cells. Although many tissue-specific promoters are recognized, few cancer-selective gene promoters are available," according to scientists writing in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America.
