Participation in clinical trials associated with improved outcome in Germany

A report from Germany says treatment for ovarian cancer in that country varies quite a bit among hospitals and that receiving care at an institution that participates in clinical trials is associated with improved outcome for ovarian cancer patients.

The purpose of the study conducted by A. Du Bois and colleagues, Dr. Horst Schmidt Clinic, Wiesbaden, "was to evaluate the pattern and quality of care for ovarian cancer in Germany and analyze prognostic factors with emphasis on characteristics of treating institutions, hospital volume, and participation in clinical trials."
