Domino liver transplantation performed in living donors

Researchers outlined techniques and recommendations for domino liver transplantation (DLT) in living donors.

According to a study from Japan, "DLT has been developed as a method to expand the donor pool. In living donors DLT, the prime concern is to avoid any disadvantage to the donor and the first recipient."

"Seven DLTs were performed among 211 patients who underwent living donor liver transplantation. The domino recipients included 6 with hepatocellular carcinoma and 1 with citrullinemia. The domino grafts were obtained from patients with familial amyloid polyneuropathy (FAP) including the left liver in 3 cases and the right liver in 4," explained...
