"We describe the clinical and pathologic features of 14 cases of HGNEC of the ampulla of Vater classified according to WHO classification of lung tumors into small cell carcinoma (SCC, 6 cases) and large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC, 8 cases) types. The immunohistochemical findings were compared with those of 13 cases of primary poorly differentiated ampullary adenocarcinomas (PDACA) lacking neuroendocrine morphology," investigators in the United States reported.
