Hyperbaric oxygen exposure produces few unintended effects in treated tumors.

According to recent research published in the Head and Neck - Journal for the Sciences and Specialties of the Head and Neck, "hyperbaric oxygen (HBO₂ ) is used to promote healing in irradiated tissues, but concern persists about the possibility that it may promote residual tumor growth."
