Chemical ablation of the gallbladder evaluated

Chemical ablation of the gallbladder was evaluated as an alternative to surgery.

"We investigated whether mini-cholecystostomy followed by chemical ablation of the gallbladder could be used as an alternative to cholecystectomy in patients at high risk for complications of surgery. From January 1990 through January 2003, 34 patients at high risk underwent mini-cholecystostomy," scientists from the People's Republic of China reported.
