"Selection of patients suffering from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in cirrhosis for liver transplantation is based upon the number and diameter of tumor nodules but not with vascular invasion. From 1989 to 2003, 1,619 liver transplantations were performed in 1,471 patients, including 163 patients with an HCC in cirrhosis," researchers in Germany reported.
