Interleukin-8 levels rise in advanced prostate cancer.

According to researchers in the United States, "we previously reported that relative expression of E-cadherin, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs)-2 and -9, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)/vascular permeability factor in radical prostatectomy specimens (RP) can distinguish organ-confined cancers from advanced prostate cancers. Here, we evaluate the expression of interleukin-8 (IL-8) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), two other genes involved in angiogenesis and metastasis, in RP specimens."
