Study 1: Oral contraceptive use helps women survive liver cancer.
"Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has an indisputable male predominance. 'Gender' as an independent prognostic factor for survival is, however, controversial," scientists in the People's Republic of China report.
C.M. Lam and colleagues of the University of Hong Kong conducted a study to "determine the influence of gender on survival in HCC patients, and identify factors that may account for the difference."
