B lymphocyte-induced maturation protein 1 (Blimp-1) is required for formation and maintenance of long-lived plasma cells. According to a study from Taiwan, "Long-lived plasma cells, residing primarily in the bone marrow, continuously secrete antibody and provide an important component of humoral memory.
